Mary Ann Bosher was baptised on 1st September 1816 at Buckley, Berkshire. Her parents were James and Sarah Bosher.

On 4th November 1835 she married James How at St John the Baptist Church in Eversholt.

Together they had a child, James, who was baptised on 26th February 1837. James How (snr) died aged 23 and was buried on 28th November 1836.      .

She married George Smart on 7th August 1837 at St John the Baptist Church in Eversholt.

Together George and Mary Ann had 5 more children:

Joseph Smart born 21st April and baptised on 13th May 1838 at St John the Baptist Church

Mary Smart born 5th September 1839 and baptised on19th January 1840 at St John the Baptist Church

Jane Smart born in 1841 and baptised on 2nd November 1845 at St John the Baptist Church

Ann Smart was baptised on 2nd November 1845 at St John the Baptist Church

William Smart born in 1843 and baptised on 2nd November 1845 at St John the Baptist Church

George Smart (junior) baptised on 14th March 1858 at Milton Bryant

In the 1841 Census George and Mary Ann were living at Hills End in Eversholt. George is detailed as being an Agricultural Labourer and Mary Ann as a Lacemaker. Both ages are given as 25 years. No children are listed.

In the 1851 Census, the family were living at 57 Hills End in Eversholt. George and Mary Ann appear with the family, including Elizabeth and James from the previous marriages. George is still an Agricultural Labourer but no occupation is listed for Mary Ann. Elizabeth (16), James (15) Joseph (12) , Mary (10), Jane (8) and Ann (7) are living with their parents.

The 1861 Census shows that they had moved to 66 Cottage at Milton Bryant. George was a Post Messenger aged 45 and Mary a Straw Platter aged 46. Mary (21), Jane (19) and Ann (17) are still living with their parents.

The 1871 Census shows that they had moved to 53 The Rectory at Milton Bryant. George is an annaniut late postman aged 55, Mary a Laundress aged 54. They have a new son, George listed as being 13 years old.

The 1881 Census shows that they had moved to Eversholt Road in Milton Bryant. George is listed as a Pensioner from the Post Office, aged 66 and Mary, Formerly Laundress, aged 67.

She died in the Autumn of 1890, aged 74.
